Dr. Haroune Rachid’s Journey in materials science Field started by falling in Love with Metallurgy after attending a lecture by Professor Zakaria Boumerzoug at Biskra University in Algeria. After finishing his Master, he received two scholarships in order to conduct his PhD research at Óbuda University in Hungary under the supervision of Dr. Csaba Balázsi and Dr. Katalin Balázsi. Dearing his PhD he worked on the Development of the ceramic dispersion strengthened 316L steel composites where Si3N4, SiC, Y2O3 and Al2O3 nano-particles have been added to the 316L powders, he received the “student of the year” award in 2016 and the first prize for most scientific advance in the materials science and technology doctoral school’s competition in 2017.  After graduating from Óbuda University with “Summa cum Laude” in 2019, Dr. Haroune worked as a lecturer at Biskra University for two years before taking a break and joining a young researcher position at the center for energy research in Budapest Hungary to continue his research about ODS and joining other research projects.

The first contact of Dr. Haroune with the ceramic society was during his PhD Studies where he was a participant and a member of organizing team of the 2017 ECERS conference in Budapest. Since then his interest in ceramics and the YCN is increasing.

By becoming a YCN representative of Algeria Dr. Haroune is planning to involve more Algerian young researchers in the network, spread the news about new projects/activities and initiate new scientific collaborations in order to develop further the research quality in the Algerian Universities.
