YCN Newsletter 28 - Open call for a new YCN Representative position

You can now apply to the YCN Representative position here! before January 9, 2026 (extended deadline).

The main purpose of this role is to facilitate efficient communication and exchange of opportunities between the Young Ceramists Network (YCN) and local ceramic communities — in both directions. Our ultimate goal is to reach every young ceramist in the world and you can help us make that happen!

Why become a YCN Representative?

There are several benefits to joining the YCN Representative team:

You will gain visibility within both the national and international ceramic communities.
The most active YCN Representatives will be awarded
You will have access to technical support if you wish to organize a YCN event such as a workshop (online or in-person) or a webinar.
We can assist you with a JECS Trust funding application for workshops or similar events.
You will have the opportunity to contribute directly to YCN activities and be among the first to learn about — and test — some of our upcoming projects.

Your role and responsibilities

As a YCN Representative, you will be part of a dynamic international team and join one of our working groups, each focused on a specific area of activity:

Working Group 1: Promotion of YCN and ECerS – advertising, social media visibility, and outreach.
Working Group 2: Newsletter and webinar preparation – content creation and new suggestions.
Working Group 3: Strengthening connections between YCN and the ceramic industry – joint events, job promotion, and company collaborations.
Working Group 4: Building bonds between national societies and YCN/ECerS – joint and national events (including in native languages).
These working groups allow you to gain experience in various fields: you’ll learn how to organize events, promote your ideas, connect with experts in different areas, and contribute to the community while leaving your personal mark.

Position details

This is a 2-year position (until the next ECerS Conference in Valencia).
You are expected to be active within both YCN and your local ceramic community, and help spread the word about YCN.
Share news from your local community in YCN channels — and vice versa.
Attend our quarterly online meetings, held around 14:00–16:00 CET to cover most time zones (meeting dates are always announced 2–3 months in advance).
Being an ECerS member is an advantage, but new memberships are welcome after your acceptance as a YCN Representative.

If you have any questions or hesitations, don’t hesitate to contact us at youngceramists@ecers.org— we’ll be happy to help!

Interface Engineering: High-Temperature Interactions Between High-Entropy Ceramics and Metals.

My research explores high-temperature interactions between high-entropy ceramics (HECs) and metals, with a focus on joining strategies for extreme environments. By understanding how metals wet and react with these advanced ceramics, I aim to design reliable interfaces for applications such as composites, coatings, and ceramic joining with functional properties. This work contributes to improving the performance and durability of materials used in demanding industries such as energy, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing.
