YCN Newsletter 24 - CeramicAM Brazil from a participant's point of view - Dariia Chernomorets

Report from Dariia Chernomorets, YCN representative for Ukraine, fourth-year PhD student at the Institute for Single Crystals, NAS of Ukraine in Kharkiv. Also, I am a visiting student at CNR ISSMC in Faenza, Italy.

My research primarily focuses on transparent ceramics, and I’ve recently started exploring additive manufacturing techniques. I was excited to attend the CeramicAM – 1st Brazilian Meeting on Ceramic Additive Manufacturing in São Carlos, Brazil, held from September 19-20. I am grateful to the JECS Trust for the travel grant that made this opportunity possible. I had the pleasure of presenting my results on “Optimization of the direct ink writing process for obtaining transparent yttria ceramics” with a pitch presentation and a poster. Although initially, I was a bit nervous about presenting in front of such an international audience, the supportive atmosphere of the conference helped me overcome this. I believe that the format of this conference, which included both oral and poster presentations, allowed for greater opportunities to share results and encourage valuable discussions.

The conference included a variety of inspiring presentations from both experienced researchers and young scientists in the field of additive manufacturing. I was also honored to be invited to evaluate the presentations and posters of young researchers as part of a competition sponsored by the JECS Trust. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience!

I am grateful to the JECS Trust for financial support, as well as to the organizers for their impeccable coordination and assistance with both my travel plans and my stay in Brazil.

Overall, I found CeramicAM to be an excellent platform for discussing research, building new connections, and exchanging ideas in a comfortable and friendly atmosphere. I am looking forward to visiting this conference again!

Turning Waste into Raw Materials for the Ceramic Industry.

Waste materials were once seen as a burden but are increasingly being redefined as valuable resources for ceramic production. Through advances in materials engineering, waste can be used as secondary raw materials in the ceramic industry. This shift enables more circular and resource-efficient ceramic manufacturing systems.

Implementing 3D-Printed Technical Ceramics in Regulated Medical Fields.

Bringing a new manufacturing technology into medicine requires far more than producing an impressive component. In highly regulated fields, innovation must be translated into repeatable processes, documented quality, reliable materials and, ultimately, evidence of clinical value. Lithoz has spent more than a decade building this bridge for Lithography-based Ceramic Manufacturing (LCM).
