Camille Zoude
YCN representative for Belgium
Scientific researcher at the Belgian Ceramic Research Centre in Mons, Belgium
My academic background is in materials science, which I studied at the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Lyon in France. During my studies, I had the opportunity to work with a wide range of materials—ceramics, metals, polymers, and composites—essentially anything that can be engineered, shaped, or occasionally broken in the name of science.
It was during my final-year research project at the MatéIS Laboratory in Lyon that things truly clicked. I had the chance to work with an inspiring team of researchers who not only shared their passion for materials science but also encouraged me to see a PhD as an exciting scientific adventure. Although it was incredibly challenging, I have to admit they were right. I therefore pursued my PhD at the same laboratory, focusing on the development of porous geopolymers for energy storage applications.
After completing it, I moved to Belgium to join the Belgian Ceramic Research Centre in Mons, where I now work in the refractory materials team as a scientist. I am particularly interested in formulation challenges and in projects aimed at valorizing underused resources or materials traditionally considered waste. I always enjoy exchanging ideas with fellow researchers and being part of a community passionate about ceramics.
I look forward to meeting you!
